Vice President Of Fortune 500 PR Agency To Speak At Clarkson University

Potsdam, N.Y. – On November 6 and 7, R. Pierce Reid, Clarkson University, class of '88, returns to Clarkson to meet with students and faculty in the Department of Technical Communications. Reed will talk at the Society for Technical Communication's (STC) student chapter meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, in Clarkson's Snell Hall, room 204. The public is welcome to attend.

Prior to joining Schwartz, Reid was a senior communications representative and head of government relations for CompuServe Incorporated. He joined CompuServe from IBM, where he had most recently served as director of communications for IBM's Space Systems unit. While at IBM, he also launched the IBM PC Company, was instrumental in starting IBM's environmental PR effort, and served as head speech writer at IBM's largest site, located in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Reid has written five books and was one of the authors of the Direct Marketing Association Guide to Marketing in the Interactive Age. He has published more than 20 articles on business topics ranging from quality to teamwork. He was an editor and contributing writer for Creativity Magazine, and served as a columnist for Houston's Clear Lake Business, where he wrote a monthly column covering the space program and NASA management.

Reid earned his bachelor's degree in technical communications with distinction from Clarkson University and pursued a master's degree in studies of the future at the University of Houston, Clear Lake.
