Gordon Elected Clarkson Alumni First Vice President
POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Peter J. Gordon of Short Hills, N.J., general manager of Lucent Technologies, New York, N.Y., was recently elected the 1997-98 first vice president of the Alumni Association at Clarkson University, in Potsdam, New York, where he is also a member of the Alumni Board of Governors.
Gordon earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary engineering and management from Clarkson in 1981. Following graduation he joined AT&T Long Lines as an operations supervisor and has held a number of leadership roles in sales and operations, progressing through several assignments of increasing responsibility before taking his current position with Lucent, formerly the communications systems and technology units of AT&T.
Gordon served as a member-at-large of the Alumni National Executive Council for five years. From 1993-95 he served as Clarkson's National Fund chair, chairing the Development/Clarkson Fund Program Committee. This past year, he was responsible for developing the concept of "affiliate alumni groups" that would enhance alumni support to the University and the greater alumni association.
Gordon, his wife Jill, and son, reside in Short Hills.
Clarkson University is an independent institution located in northern New York, in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The University has 2,670 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in programs in its schools of Business, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Science, and its Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management program.
