Dangremond Of Potsdam Receives Clarkson University's Top Alumni Honor
Potsdam, N.Y. --Donald R. Dangremond of Potsdam, N.Y., has received the Golden Knight Award from his alma mater, Clarkson University. Presented each year during Reunion Weekend, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.
Dangremond received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Management from Clarkson in 1972 and 1974, respectively. After working as an industrial engineer in the fossil fuel division of Babcock and Wilcox Company in Barberton, Ohio, he returned to his alma mater in 1975 as assistant director of residence life. In 1977, he became associate dean of students. By then he was well launched on his work with students, parents, and ultimately alums, that would establish him as a vital part of the Clarkson administration.
Dangremond's numerous responsibilities have included supervision of the offices of the Alumni Data Center, the Clarkson Fund, Communications, Publications, and the Career Development Center, and he has been vice president of University Relations. In 1992, as universities and colleges nationwide were faced with a declining pool of quality applicants, he was asked to assume the responsibility of Clarkson's Department of Undergraduate Admission.
This spring, Dangremond returned to the division of Institutional Advancement as executive director of the Alumni and Parents Associations, where he is again hard at work renewing alumni relationships, developing programming to meet alumni needs in the 21st century, and focusing on major gift solicitations among all Clarkson constituencies.
Indeed, Dangremond's commitment to his alma mater has always exceeded his job description. His volunteer efforts include presidency of the Delta Upsilon Alumni Corporation, class reunion committee, class agent, phonathon participant, admissions volunteer, and Roundtable membership.
