Clarkson has always been a place where a great education is accessible to first-generation college students, as well as smart, pragmatic, hard-working kids from all economic backgrounds. Private gifts in support of financial aid are a critical ingredient in the E2E Campaign. Click here for more information http://www.clarkson.edu/e2e/priorities/scholarships.html.
Occasionally, Clarkson receives large gifts from donors who designate no restrictions. These are typically six- and seven-figure gifts and often arrive in the form of bequests. These "undesignated gifts" provide University leadership with tremendous flexibility. Clarkson has been fortunate to credit nearly $19 million in undesignated gifts during the E2E Campaign.
Unrestricted endowment forms the base of the University’s financial foundation. As Clarkson takes on a larger, more ambitious agenda, our endowment needs to grow commensurate with our aspirations.
A larger unrestricted endowment benefits all students and faculty and all facets of the University. It will help improve and maintain our 640-acre campus and facilities, and allow Clarkson to be nimble in response to new opportunities. The incremental income stream, steady and reliable year after year, will strengthen Clarkson’s permanent financial base and ensure that we continue to make unique and lasting contributions to our region, nation and world.
