Students, alumni, faculty and staff: tonight through Sunday evening, take a sunset photo of campus, or if you’re away, a view from wherever you are at dusk. Upload it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ClarksonSunset; voting will begin next Tuesday June 25, and last through Friday June 28 on a web page we will set up with your photos. The top ten vote-getters will receive a pair of snazzy Clarkson “Defy Convention” sunglasses, and the most popular photo will be displayed in the Student Center! Professor Andrea Ferro's #research on indoor air pollutants is receiving national attention. The National Science Foundation has highlighted Ferro's research, which concluded that indoor pollutants are usually 1,000 times more likely to be inhaled than outdoor emissions, on its website. Ferro is an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at Clarkson. Congratulations, Andrea! Discover Day With The Cup | Colin Patterson
The NHL highlighted a former Clarkson hockey player's role in Stanley Cup history during last weekend's playoff games! Colin Patterson was a Golden Knights forward from 1980 to 1983 (Clarkson was first in the league in 80-81 and 81-82); by the end of the decade, he and the Calgary Flames had won the Stanley Cup. After winning, Patterson requested the Stanley Cup stop in his hometown, and ever since, those hometown visits have become an NHL tradition. Watch the video below! Have you attempted the "Flapjack Attack?" Clarkson has won seven of the last nine intercollegiate “Flapjack Attack” challenges at Potsdam’s Village Diner. Students who are up to the challenge order a 15-by-20 inch pancake; those that finish it receive a free T-shirt. Diner staff keep a running tally of those that finish. As of Thursday morning, with two months to go in the 2012-2013 competition, Clarkson is ahead of SUNY Potsdam 91 to 84. Share your stories of the Flapjack Attack below. Way to go, Clarkson!
