Dr. Rengaswamy’s research focus is in the fields of fuel cell technology and systems engineering with an emphasis on process modeling and simulation, identification, fault diagnosis, reconciliation and optimization approaches to process control. Work is being performed on modeling, simulation, diagnosis and control of PEM and solid oxide fuel cells, and nonlinear observers for the problem of fault diagnosis. In identification, research is being performed in designing optimal input signals that would generate meaningful and rich data. Location of sensors based on various process management objectives in complex chemical plants is another area of interest.
