Clarkson University researchers James S. Bonner and Temitope O. Ojo have acquired an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) equipped with sensors that are capable of detecting and trackingplumes of hydrocarbon in the aftermath of an oil spill.

Clarkson University Environmental Engineering Program Ranks Highly in U.S. News Best Graduate Schools
Clarkson University is again featured in the latest edition of Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News Media Group. Highlights of the rankings will be published in the U.S. News Best Graduate Schools 2013 guidebook in April.
Clarkson’s environmental engineering program was ranked #38 in the nation. The interdisciplinary program in environmental science & engineering is administered by Clarkson’s Institute for a Sustainable Environment. The civil & environmental engineering program is in the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

AECOM Representative and Clarkson University President Tony CollinsClarkson University and AECOM (AY-EE-COMM) Technology Corporation announced today that they have established an academic alliance to advance the missions of both organizations.

Clarkson University Environmental Design Team Wins Highest Award at International Contest in South Koreakorea
The Clarkson University Environmental Design Team won the highest award in the 2012 International Capstone Design Contest on Renewable Energy Technology (CORE2012) at Mokpo, South Korea, earlier this month. The competition is sponsored by Mokpo National University and the Offshore Wind Energy Center, both of South Korea.

EPA Awards Nearly $500K to Clarkson University and Southern Nevada Water Authority for Sustainable Drinking Water Treatment Methods
Today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a $499,778 grant to Clarkson University and the Southern Nevada Water Authority, part of almost $1.5 million in funding to three universities nationwide to develop sustainable drinking water treatment methods.

Lifeng Wang has been appointed assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at Clarkson University.
He received his bachelor of engineering, master of science and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University in the People’s Republic of China.

He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a bio-resources engineering option with honors,
his master of science degree in civil engineering, and his doctoral degree in ecology and environmental sciences,all from Montana State University.

Khiem Tran has been appointed assistant professor of civil & environmental engineering at Clarkson University.He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the National University of Civil Engineering in Hanoi, Vietnam, and his master of science and doctoral degrees in civil engineering from the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering, University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.

Bill Van Wagenen, Class of 78, Civil Engineering, was named a Fellow of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).  Founded in 1982, CMAA is North America’s only professional organization dedicated to the interests of VanWagenenprofessional Construction and Program Managers and now has over 10,000 members.  Bill is a Senior Program Manager with CH2M HILL, a global consulting, design, design-build, operations, and program management firm with 30,00 staff working in more than 80 countries.
