1. What are the requirements for participation?

Students are allowed to participate in their junior year and in rare cases the first semester of their senior year. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to qualify.

2. When do students apply?

Students begin the application in the first semester of their sophomore year. There are several information sessions to familiarize them with the various options and partner institutions. The formal application is due in mid-January followed by personal interviews that conclude by late February. Students are notified of the results by early March.

3. What are the related costs associated to the program?

Students will pay their normal tuition cost to Clarkson for the semester that they will be abroad. Any housing related costs are paid directly to their host institution or landlord in the cases where the host institution does not provide housing. All transportation, visa and living costs are paid by the student. The student should plan extra money for sightseeing and other non-education related expenses.

4. How do students finance their study abroad/exchange experiences?

Students are eligible to utilize their financial aid awards to pay for their program participation. It is also possible by working closely with the Financial Aid Office to secure additional loan amounts to help offset higher expenses such as travel. Students have also utilized other family resources when financing their trips.

5. Is there housing available from the host institution?

Not all partner schools provide housing for their students. If housing is provided, the student will need to closely follow the instructions of how to apply for housing and do so in a timely manner. Housing is not guaranteed by the host institution. Where housing is not provided, the host institution often provides lists of available housing in the general area of the university. Again students are urged to handle this matter soon after receiving their acceptance packets from the host university.
