Chemical Engineering, Mathematics
I am from Flowery Branch, Georgia.
At Clarkson, I’m learning to use computer modeling and simulate various conditions to predict molecular behavior. The compounds I’m researching are expensive and explosive, but the labs at Clarkson allow me to keep doing this work safely and on budget.
I chose Clarkson because I wanted to experience a different part of the country and spend my college years in an academically focused community. Clarkson offered both. Not only do I get to live in the Northeast, I also get to study with students who know how to work hard, play hard and have fun learning.
This University is unique because Clarkson is tight-knit and I can get to know my professors and my classmates, no matter their major. The professors here know their students’ goals and interests. They even offer us opportunities to further our research in the areas that interest us.
Clarkson is preparing me for the career I want by making me an active learner. I want to have a strong academic background and develop the engineer’s problem-solving mindset. To achieve this, I can’t passively sit through lectures. Clarkson provides opportunities from the beginning to get involved and conduct research while developing the skills and knowledge I need to excel.
