NYSTAR
Faculty Development Grant
New
York State's Office of Science, Technology, and Academic Research
(NYSTAR) has supported Clarkson / CAMP through its Faculty Development
Program. An award from this program for $ 375,000 in matching funds
over three years brings Professor Roshan Jachuck to CAMP. He and
his team of researchers from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
in the UK will develop process intensification technology that has
already brought many advances to the chemical processing industry.
A spin-off company based on Professor Jachuck's research, proposed
to be established in Potsdam in 2004, will produce process intensification
units and provide process management expertise to the pharmaceutical,
food, cosmetics and imaging industries. He joined Clarkson in January
2004.
CAMP
Collaborates with Kodak and Xerox
CAMP is involved with technology transfer projects
with many other NY and non-NY State companies. Some examples with
Kodak and Xerox are described briefly below. S.V. Babu is working
with Kodak to develop slurries for several planarization applications
and to develop special thin film technologies. Also Senior University
Professor Richard Partch and members of his research group are collaborating
with Kodak to develop colloidal materials for imaging and printing
applications. The company allocated $200,000 over five years for
a Graduate Fellowship in support of this research.
