The Clarkson School of Business Difference

In this Section
Integration. Innovation.

It’s no coincidence that one in five Clarkson alumni is a CEO, senior executive or owner of a company. When you enroll in our undergraduate, MBA, or executive programs, you’ll join a supportive, successful community of next-generation business leaders. What makes Clarkson different?

You will get a truly integrated business education.
The Clarkson business curriculum mirrors the way business really works. To be an effective marketing professional, for example, you need to grasp finance, operations and accounting in addition to the fundamentals of marketing. Our undergraduate business majors and graduate business programs are designed to equip Clarkson graduates with an integrated understanding of business processes—from information technology to global supply chain networks—plus the skills and experience to deliver results.

You will learn by doing.
It starts with the First-Year Experience. All business school undergraduates are challenged to develop a new product or service, pitch real investors and launch a business—all before Thanksgiving Break. It’s a crash course in entrepreneurship and innovation that you’ll never forget. This kind of engaging, hands-on, professional experience is a way of life at Clarkson. It’s the motivation behind the Clarkson Consulting Group, a real business consulting agency staffed by Clarkson MBA students. Learn more about experiential learning opportunities like co-ops and internships and study abroad.

You will go global.
Success in a global marketplace requires a firsthand understanding of how different cultures do business. That’s why we require nearly all undergraduate business students to have an international experience, whether it’s a semester-long study abroad or a shorter faculty-led trip through the Global Business Program. MBA students can earn a Global MBA by spending a semester in China, France or Australia or choose from their own faculty-led trips to destinations on four different continents.

You will join a supportive and successful community.
You’re not in this alone. In addition to incredible faculty who take a personal interest in your success, the School of Business has dedicated academic advisors who will make sure that you reach your education goals. Career Services is an invaluable resource, as is our expansive and impressive alumni network who are proud to hire their own.

School of Business students

We’re different. Our university culture encourages big-picture thinking,  innovation and pushing the status quo. We defy convention by blending traditional disciplines into powerful combinations. That difference — it is the key to our success and the success of our graduates. It is why one in five Clarkson alumni is an owner, president or vice president of a company. It is also why in a down economy our placement rate remains among the highest in the country.
