Clarkson School Ambassadors

In this Section

The culture of the Clarkson School Program is characterized by a strong sense of community in which every student plays a critical role. The Clarkson School Ambassador program was developed to introduce you to some of our alumni and current students. Our Ambassadors each year share their perspectives regarding admission, classes, faculty, and life as a Clarkson School student.

Below is a brief biography, including the educational background of our most recent Class of 2013 Ambassadors who completed our program in May 2013 and a few mentors who have successfully completed the Clarkson School program last year and now help guide the current class.

Morgan Hinckley

Morgan Hinckley

Hometown: Blue Mountain Lake, NY

Pursuing a Major In: Pre-Law or Social Science

Career Goals: I'm not completely sure of my future yet.  For right now my plan is to be a lawyer defending minority groups.  I'm still trying to find my niche.

Why I chose TCS: I chose TCS because I come from a very rural location with a very small population.  Wanting to experience diversity and more difficult classes, I left my high school class of 13.  I don't regret anything!

Campus Involvement: Women's Basketball, SPECTRUM, and Leadership Corps.

John Lindsay

John Lindsay

Hometown:
Niskayuna, NY

Pursuing a Major In: Political Science

Career Goals: I would really like to serve in either the Peace Corps or some other international service organization.

Why I chose TCS: I chose the Clarkson School because it gave me the opportunity to challenge myself and to enter a more competitive academic environment.  The ability to participate in all of the activities provided to the students at the University has enabled me to make great connections with both professors and other students, as well as participate in excellent extra-curricular activities.

Campus Involvement: Clarkson University Student Association (CUSA), SPECTRUM, TEDxClarksonU (Chair), Leadership Corps, Gay/Straight Alliance, and University Philanthropy Committee.

Caitlin Barilec

Caitlin Barilec

Hometown:
 Lakeview, NY

Pursuing a Major In:  Environmental Engineering with a Business Minor

Career Goals: I hope to obtain my degree in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in water treatment.  My dream would be to live in third world countries and help find cost effective ways of purifying water. I would also like to develop a business encompassing the purification system that can than employ the people living there.

Why I chose TCS: I chose TCS because I was ready to move on from high school.  I was looking into coming to Clarkson to begin with because of the Environmental Engineering Program, but TCS allowed me to start pursuing my goals a year early.

Campus Involvement: Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Symposium on Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) - Presenter, New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA), and Ski Club.

Thalia Frasco

Thalia Frasco -Mentor

Career Goals: Become a corporate lawyer.

Why I chose TCS: To seek a higher academic challenge than was available at my high school.

Campus Involvement: Philosophy Club (President), Honors Program Student Ambassador, Intramural Volleyball, Intramural Soccer, and Researcher in Dr. Andreescu's Chemistry lab.

Cassandra Hamann

Cassandra Hamann -Mentor

Hometown:
 Lyman, ME.

Pursuing a Major In: Aeronautical Engineering Degree.

Career Goals:I plan to become an Air Force Officer, and am currently in the AFROTC program at Clarkson.

Why I chose TCS:  It gave me the opportunity to do more than simply get by at my high school. I wanted to be challenged with a full load of college classes. I also liked the idea of experiencing the college living environment and being more independent. My high school didn't offer the courses I was interested in taking, and the year would have been filled with boring classes. I saw my brother go through a senior year like this, and it caused him to lose interest in school and have a hard time succeeding once he got to college. I wanted to experience college now, and stop wasting time in high school.

Campus Involvement: Honors Program, Air Force ROTC, Knitting Club, and Laser Tag Club.

Hometown:
 Summit, NY

Pursuing a Major In: Computer Science

Career Goals: Game Programming/Design

Why I chose TCS: In general, The Clarkson School has a friendly, relaxed, yet academically inspiring atmosphere.  This, combined with the vast amount of resources available for my studies, is what really pulled me into the program.

Dominique Bukovan

Dominique Bukovan

Hometown: Bridgeport, CT

Pursuing a Major In: Engineering and Management as well as two minors in Mathematics and Law Studies

Career Goals: I am still not sure what my career goals are yet, but I'm looking in the direction of becoming a project manager or possibly pursuing a patent law career.  I'm still not sure which path I will end up choosing.

Why I chose TCS: I chose to come to The Clarkson School because of the once in a lifetime experience that it provides for me.  My senior year of high school would have consisted of all AP classes that I might not have even been able to get college credit for.  I was also just ready for the next stage in my life and a new challenge.  Coming to The Clarkson School just seemed like the obvious chose to make for myself.  I am very happy with my decision and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Campus Involvement: Animal Science Club (Secretary) and Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX).
