Dennis Yu Receives Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor at Clarkson University
Clarkson University President Tony Collins has announced that Dennis Yu has been granted tenure and promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of operations and information systems in the School of Business.
Yu joined Clarkson as an assistant professor of operations and information systems in 2006. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, his Ph.D. in operations research from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and his MBA and Ph.D. in operations and manufacturing management from Washington University in St. Louis.
His research interests are in the areas of interface of operations management and marketing, supply chain flexibility for mitigating risks, and revenue management in supply chain.
Yu's work involves studies on product and supply chain strategies in the presence of customer demand fluctuations, capacity investment strategies in managing operational flexibility of supply chain, and revenue management of alternative distribution channels in supply chain.
He enjoys the teaching of supply chain modeling and optimization with decision analysis techniques and tools of operations research. As the faculty advisor, he has led two Clarkson teams to participate in national material handling student design competitions sponsored by the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education in the past two years.
Yu has co-authored one book chapter and published nine research papers in leading academic journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production & Operations Management, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Omega, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, and others.
He has delivered papers at some 30 professional and academic conferences throughout the world. Yu is also involved in two research projects on operations strategies funded by National Science Foundation of China.
