Clarkson University Director of University Events Christina Lesyk Receives Professional Certification
Clarkson University Director of University Events Christina Lesyk has received designation as a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) by the International Special Events Society.
The CSEP designation recognizes event professionals who successfully demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability needed to plan and implement all aspects of a special event. In order to qualify for the CSEP, potential candidates are evaluated through examination and an assessment of several years of professional event experience.
The CSEP designation is globally recognized and one of the two most highly regarded in the world for event professionals. It demonstrates dedication to enhancing individual and professional performance and the promotion of professional ethics and standards.
“The CSEP designation is considered the hallmark of professional achievement in the special events industry, and I am truly grateful to Clarkson University for giving me the opportunity to hone my skills over the past eight years to qualify for this honor,” said Lesyk.
Lesyk has also been approved to sit for the examination for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, the second of the two most highly regarded global certifications. She anticipates taking this examination in the spring.
Lesyk has worked at Clarkson since 2005 and has been director of university events since 2009. Prior to that, she worked in various positions at SUNY Plattsburgh, Empire State College, Clinton Community College, and the Community Action Agency of Franklin County.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in women’s studies at Columbia University/ Barnard College, and her master’s in community organization and planning from the Hunter College School of Social Work in New York. She will complete her event management certificate from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst this March.
