Solo Art Exhibition in Potsdam by Clarkson University Digital Arts and Sciences Professor Steven Pedersen
The Creative Spirit Community Arts Center in Potsdam, N.Y., will present "Eaux D’Artifice," an exhibition of recent artworks by Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Digital Arts and Sciences Steven Mygind Pedersen, January 18 to February 9.
The opening reception is on Friday, January 18, from 7 to 9 p.m.
For this exhibition, Pedersen has taken regional oddities, such as the Village of Potsdam’s public toilet displays and North Country This Week’s “Sound Off” column, as a starting point for a larger meditation on ideas of place, situation, and individuation. The exhibition includes video and interactive art installations, as well as photography and fine art digital prints.
Pedersen is an interdisciplinary artist, whose work weaves together disparate media and working practices that move between object-oriented production, time-based media, and interactive installation.
Pedersen received his bachelor of arts degree with honors in fine art and contemporary critical theory from Goldsmiths College, University of London, after which he completed a two-year study period at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Since getting his master of fine arts in electronic integrated arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Pedersen has continued to exhibit his work within the United States and abroad. This includes exhibitions in New York City, Paris, London, Beijing, Berlin and Copenhagen.
The Creative Spirit Community Arts Center is located at 8 Raymond Street in downtown Potsdam, N.Y.
